Lewknor School Governing Body
An Introduction from David George – Chair of Governors
On behalf of the Governing Body, I am pleased to welcome you to Lewknor C of E Primary School.
One of our key roles as Governors is to set the overall vision and ethos of the school, and we look to support the school in fulfilling its vision of nurturing the school community so that all can flourish and achieve their best in every aspect of school life. We also ensure the effective and efficient use of the school’s resources. In particular we hold the headteacher to account and offer guidance and an objective view on the management of the school.
The Governors believe that every year of primary school is crucial and that every child within each class should be taught in a way which allows them to make at least good progress. We expect every child to be set appropriate and aspirational targets for their progress. We will ensure that these are rigorously monitored by the class teacher, the curriculum co-ordinator and the headteacher. To this end we ask that the results are passed on, in an anonymised format, to the governing body for further scrutiny. At the same time we want to ensure that the school provides an enjoyable, supportive and safe learning environment. We would like every child to leave Lewknor School fully equipped for secondary school and later life.
This is a good school, as evidenced by the recent Ofsted inspection, and our aim is to build on this and drive forward further improvement. We will provide information and communicate as appropriate with all stakeholders of the school. We are determined that the school continues to be a strong, stable and inclusive community, living up to its motto of building strong foundations for a happy and successful life.
If you wish to discuss any matters relating to the governance of the school, then do not hesitate to contact me via the school office. If you have any questions regarding the day to day operational management of the school, then please contact the headteacher, Mrs Cole.
